Kim Jaejoong is starting the new year with a comeback! A rep of the label stated, “Kim Jaejoong is going to launch a new album at some point in mid-January of 2020. Since Kim Jaejoong has been inactive in the K-pop scene for such a long time, we figure that the industry insiders and fans will be keeping a close watch on the singer after the news of his January comeback.

In addition to his first Korean return, Kim Jaejoong will also hold a concert tour across Asia to commemorate the issue of his new album, according to C-JeS Entertainment. The singer’s last release in Korea was his second solo album called “No.X,” which was launched in February 2016. “No.X” is composed of twelve tracks that were taped before his enlistment in March 2015, including the title song “Love You More.” Kim participated in writing the lyrics of most of the singles and also helped in a few of the compositions.

The male artist was discharged ten months after his album was issued. After the end of his military service, Kim was offered an acting project in 2017. He played one of the lead roles in KBS2’s “Manhole,” in which he acted as Bong Pil, a man who time travels back and forth to bring a wedding to stop.

Kim was initially part of SM Entertainment’s boy group TVXQ, which debuted in 2003. He, along with fellow TVXQ members Junsu and Yoochun, left SM Entertainment in 2010 after they filed a lawsuit against the company to conclude their contracts. During that time, the trio was already a group named “JYJ” which are the initial letters of their names. So, JYJ continued to promote as a trio in Japan.

JYJ made their official Japanese debut with the extended play titled “The…” in September 2010. But that same month, JYJ’s Japan activities were suspended since the president of C-JeS Entertainment had a conflict with the trio’s Japan agency Avex Entertainment. As a result, JYJ stopped making music promotions in Japan and started releasing albums in Korea and the United States instead and even held showcase tours and worldwide tours in different cities all over the world.

Aside from being a member of TVXQ and JYJ, Kim Jaejoong was also able to establish himself as a solo artist. His solo debut was in January 2013 with the release of his first extended play called “I/MINE.” He promoted the EP at the end of January through a two-day special concert in Korea at KINTEX Ilsan. It was also his way to celebrate his birthday.

In October of that same year, Kim Jaejoong launched his first full-length album titled “WWW,” along with its title track “Heaven” featuring his labelmate Gummy. To promote “WWW,” Kim had his first Asia tour, in which he visited countries like China, Japan, and Taiwan.

Apart from his last acting project, “Manhole,” Kim Jaejoong was cast in many dramas and movies before and after he debuted as a singer. He played a role in the films Taegeukgi, and Jackal is Coming, and in the television series Banjun Theater, Protect the Boss, Dr. Jin, Triangle, and SPY.
