The 2019 SBS Entertainment Awards is gearing up for an evening of festivities!
This year’s event will be held at 9 p.m. KST and will be hosted by Kim Sung Joo, Park Na Rae, and Jo Jung Shik. Here are four things to get viewers excited about the upcoming awards show.
History of SBS’s “Kingdom of variety shows”
The 2019 SBS Entertainment Awards will be centered around the trendy keyword of “Newtro.” Therefore, they will be taking a moment to look back on the illustrious history of SBS variety shows such as “Soonpoong Clinic,” “X-Man,” “Our Happy Saturday,” and “Ya Shim Man Man.”
Meeting of witty talkers, Kim Sung Joo, Park Na Rae, and Jo Jung Shik
Three people who can’t be left out when talking about witty conversationalists will be hosting the 2019 SBS Entertainment Awards. From Kim Sung Joo, a seasoned MC who is also the main MC of “Baek Jong Won’s Alley Restaurant,” to Park Na Rae, who is able to quickly adapt to any situation and always has a witty comment to add, and Jo Jung Shik, who energetically leads the “Fun Fun Today” early morning radio show, anticipation is rising to see how the three will work off of each other to create a fun night.
Celebratory performances to make the night even more fun
A variety of celebratory performances have been prepared for the festivities. Chungha and ITZY are set to perform on stage. SBS announces Jang Ye Won, Joo Si Eun, Kim Soo Min, Kim Joo Woo, and Kim Yoon Sang are also preparing a special stage that embodies the theme of “Newtro.”
Who will win the Daesang [Grand Prize]?
SBS variety shows have garnered high viewership ratings and interest despite stiff competition from a slew of new shows. Shows like “Same Bed – Different Dreams 2,” “Burning Youth,” “Baek Jong Won’s Alley Restaurant,” and “My Ugly Duckling” have been excelling in their time slots. New shows like “Little Forest” and “Delicious Rest Stop” (literal title) have also been met with a positive response. It will be intriguing to see who will win the Daesang this year.
