Sometimes when you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders, it’s nice to have a good support system. Whether that support comes from family or friends, it’s comforting to know that there are people you can rely on and depend on when life gets tough. In the world of K-dramas, it’s especially nice to see when the female lead is supported by her gal pals. It’s almost like we’re getting second-hand comfort from watching them work their life problems out together. Here are eight K-drama girl squads we all wish we could have!

1. “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo

In “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo,” Kim Bok Joo (Lee Sung Kyung) is an aspiring weightlifter who has always known what she wanted in life. She has what it takes to become the best, and her life seems pretty set out for her. After continuing to train, Bok Joo meets a boy and falls in love, but she gets heartbroken as her love for him is unable to be fulfilled. Her friends, Lee Sun Ok (Lee Joo Young) and Jung Nan Hee (Jo Hye Jung), are there for her when Bok Joo needs them, and they are relentless in making sure she is ok. When she is doubting herself and her future, her squad of girlfriends reassure her and are always there to eat fried chicken with her!

2. “Melo Is My Nature

This group of ladies went through it all together, and they’re probably one of the more realistic K-drama girl squads. In this slice of life K-drama, these girls experience death, getting fired, getting pregnant and dumped, and even having a mental breakdown, but Im Jin Joo (Chun Woo Hee), Lee Eun Jung (Jeon Yeo Bin), and Hwang Han Joo (Han Ji Eun) are there for each other through thick and thin. When Eun Jung falls into depression and attempts to take her own life, Jin Joo and Han Joo decide to move into her house. They realize that Eun Jung needs support, and her friends don’t hesitate for a second to drop everything they are doing to be there for her. It’s a heartwarming friendship and one that is most needed in this life.

This is a larger girl squad as it involves Yoon Jin Myung (Han Ye Ri), Jung Ye Eun (Han Seung Yeon), Song Ji Won (Park Eun Bin), Kang Yi Na (Ryu Hwayoung), and Yoo Eun Jae (Park Hye Soo). This group of college students find themselves living in a house together. They are all so starkly different from each other and are individually dealing with their own issues, but they still somehow bond and find a way to be there for each other despite their differences. The heartbreak, death, financial issues, and achieving of dreams are various life problems that the girls experience, but because they have each other, the weight of their problems are lessened.

5. “Avengers Social Club”

We can only hope to be this cool when we’re older. Kim Jung Hye (Lee Yo Won), Hong Do Hee (Ra Mi Ran), and Lee Mi Sook (Myung Se Bin) all have different backgrounds that have brought them to certain difficulties in life that they are struggling with. They all have different personalities: Jung Hye is strong and elegant, Mi Sook has a lot of baggage that has made her more emotional and sensitive, and Do Hee is like a rock, listening to everyone’s problems and giving support. These three women are so strong and their journey into becoming a tighter knit group is so heartwarming to see.

6. “Search: WWW

Despite the misunderstandings and past riffs, the ladies in this drama are tough and fierce. They’re independent, but also rely on each other for support. Bae Ta Mi (Im Soo Jung) is not afraid to ask Cha Hyun (Lee Da Hee) to help her wreck the car of Oh Jin Woo (Ji Seung Hyun) after he betrays her, and Cha Hyun asks no questions when Ta Mi asks to be there. And although it takes Song Ka Kyung (Jeon Hye Jin) some time to accept Ta Mi back into her life, when she eventually does, the three women together exude a force that is hard to come by in K-dramaland.
