BTS Breaks Tie With BLACKPINK for Most Top 40 Hits in the UK Among Korean Acts

Recently, “Permission to Dance” made its debut on United Kingdom’s Official Charts for most streamed songs at No. 16.

While it may not be a number one as many would have hoped for, it is still a significant achievement as a South Korean artist.

With “Permission to Dance” entering the United Kingdom’s official charts, this marks the seven-member group’s seventh song to make it within the Top 40, breaking a tie with South Korea’s “It” girl group, BLACKPINK.

BTS now holds the record for the most Top 40 hit songs in the United Kingdom among South Korean artists. Prior to the debut of “Permission to Dance” on the Official Charts, BTS was tied with YG Entertainment’s girl group for the most songs within the Top 40 among South Korean artists.

As of this writing, BLACKPINK had six of their songs enter the Top 40 on Official Charts, where their tracks were able to position themselves between the No.1 and No.40 spots based on the weekly rankings.

In fact, at the start of the year, BLACKPINK had claimed the record for the most Top 40 hits. But with BTS releasing new songs this year, they were able to add two more Top 40 hits to their career total in just a span of two months, bringing their total Top 40 hits to seven.

“Permission to Dance,” which is currently peaking at No.16, follows after “IDOL” (peaked at No.21), “Boy With Luv” featuring Halsey (peaked at No.13), “ON” (peaked at No.21), “Dynamite” (peaked at No.3), “Life Goes On” (peaked at No.10, and most recently, “Butter,” which peaked at No.3 on United Kingdom’s Official Charts.

Congratulations to BTS!
